Barcelona midfielder’s new contract is on hold by financial officials
Barcelona are currently negotiating new contracts with several of their star players, but have already signed Fermin López. The Olympic gold medalist and Euro 2024 champion will play a key role once he recovers from injury.
Manager Matteo Moretto has confirmed to Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that an agreement has already been reached to keep Fermin López tied to the club for the next five years. This will keep him at Camp Nou until he turns 26, but fans may have to wait until the deal is officially announced. According to Mollet, Barcelona will only announce a new contract once they are back within the salary limit and can spend the money they earn without restrictions (one-for-one rule).
Breaking news: Barcelona take signing with Nike for granted. It was agreed verbally and all that remains is the signature. Barça will return to La Liga’s one-on-one rule in the January transfer window. @JoanPoquiEraso, @ffpolo

López was used sparingly by Xavi Hernández until the end of last season, but despite his lack of playing time, he was Barcelona’s second top scorer with 11 goals last season. Two hamstring problems have kept Hansi Flick out of action so far this season, but he is expected to return after the next international break.
