WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (WMC) – Coca-Cola, one of America’s most famous companies, is spreading its roots even further in West Memphis with an influx of capital to expand its operations.
West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon said the $25 million investment will greatly help the city grow.
“It’s good to be able to provide jobs for people in our community so they can support their families, so we’re grateful for the continued growth of Coca-Cola Consolidated Companies,” McClendon said.
This investment will increase production capacity at the bottling site from 26 million cases to 29 million cases per year and also increase the number of jobs in the region.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said this investment is a result of the partnership, and the state is doing everything it can to not only attract new business, but expand the businesses that are here. He said he was there.
“We invest in our employees, we invest in education, and we make sure that businesses have all the ingredients they need to come here and grow and be successful. We continue to make sure that people continue to call Arkansas home. I’m proud to be one of those people,” Sanders said.
Arkansas was the first state to enact restrictions on foreign ownership, and Sanders said having a pure American company like Coca-Cola invest in the state is a huge deal for the state.
“This company truly values its employees and their families, and they represent our country. It’s a great day to see them up and running in the state of Arkansas, and we are We’re proud to have them up and running,” Sanders said.
