LeAnn Perros-Busch will be speaking about credit at the Summer Teen Financial Literacy Workshop in July. Fall break workshops will be held October 8th and 9th at the J. Walter Cameron Center.
The two-day “Financial Literacy for Teens” workshop covering topics such as budgeting, savings, and credit will be held at J. Walter in Wailuku on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 8 and 9 during fall break week. -Held at the Cameron Center.
The Teen Financial Literacy Workshop is free and hosted by Maui Economic Opportunity’s Business Development Center. In-person workshops will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. both days in Conference Room 1 of the Cameron Center, 99 Mahalani St.
This workshop, which is held every fall and summer vacation, will be moved from its usual venue, the MEO classroom, so participation will be limited to 18 middle and high school students.

Topics covered include budgeting and saving, basic banking, applying for jobs, obtaining credit, and more. Lecturers include Lianne Peros-Busch, MEO Business Development Specialist, and Jaimie Dukelow from American Savings Bank.

BDC has been providing popular financial literacy for teens in schools and on Molokai and Lanai. BDC Specialist Liliana Napoleon runs the Molokai Workshop. Perrosbusch and Simmons will head to Lanai in October.
Perros Bush and BDC Specialist Theon Simmons will present the curriculum to about 150 students at Maui High School in September, who will move on to King Kekaulike High School next year.
The Maui County Economic Development Authority is funding the workshop.
