This case might have made more headlines had the U.S. Supreme Court not overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24th. But this was also the day the House Financial Services Committee released its findings on the January 2021 “meme stock market event.”
The 140-page report focuses on how the introduction of brokers, specifically how events at Robinhood unfolded, adequately responded to unexpected market volatility due to meme stock trading. It details how they were unable to do so and had to impose trading restrictions.
