One of AMD’s most popular gaming processors, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, appears to be in short supply as prices have skyrocketed recently and stocks are tight.
A quick check on PC Part Picker shows that 7800X3D prices have been trending upward in the past two months in the US, with MemoryC prices starting at around $424 on August 1st and currently ending at over $524. Masu. It’s up $100, or nearly 24%. Jump. Prices for this chip from Newegg also started at just over $381 and are now $419, an increase of about 10%. However, note that this number has recently come down from its all-time high of $449. This means that the price of the 7800X3D actually increased by 17% initially before settling to its current price.
We also searched Amazon for popular gaming processors in stock. However, searching for “7800X3D” only returned results for 7900X3D, 7900X, 5700X3D, 7700X, and 7950X3D. I was finally able to find this by visiting the AMD storefront and going to (Processors) > (Ryzen 7000 Series). That page had a listing for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, but “Add to Cart” was not available, only “See Options” was available.

Click (see all purchasing options) for 7800X3D and all listings available, both used and new, commanded a premium on the chip. The most affordable prices start at $530.99 used and $548.90 new, a significant increase from the launch price of $449. This price increase indicates that the supply of chips in the United States is limited.
According to discussions among enthusiasts on forums and social media, the 7800X3D processor is still readily available in various European countries, including Poland, Germany, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. However, it is certain that prices tend to increase.
Given that there are no significant global announcements or events that directly impact AMD, this price movement is caused by a sudden increase in demand or a decrease in supply. Especially since the 7800X3D is not a new processor that was released over a year ago, so the previous one is unthinkable. As a result, the supply of popular gaming chips is likely beginning to decline globally.
There’s no official guidance on what’s going on, but this could be related to rumors of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D arriving in October. After all, if AMD were to release a new gaming chip, they wouldn’t want to have extra stock of old 7800X3Ds in their warehouses. If you want to wipe them out after the Ryzen 9000 series X3D processors arrive, you’ll have to pay a price and move your inventory.
Considering the above observations, if you are in the market for a 7800X3D, we recommend holding off on buying it, especially since the price on the market is at a record high. If the 9800X3D launches as predicted, we can expect the price of the 7800X3D to drop sharply, saving money on building a PC.
