Pinellas County – Starting Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 4:00 p.m., access to all beaches and barrier islands will be open only to residents, business owners, or employees with Barrier Island Reentry Permits.
Northbound and southbound lanes of Gulf Boulevard will remain closed from 150th Street (Tom Stewart Causeway) south to 140th Street in Madeira Beach. Additionally, Gulf Boulevard north and south from the Park Boulevard Bridge to 196th Street in Indian Shores (Tiki Gardens County Park) will remain closed.
To access a barrier island, citizens must present a barrier island re-entry permit or photo identification and reasonable evidence that they reside or conduct lawful business on the barrier island. There is a need. Examples of this include:
Vehicle registration Property tax or utility bill Employment verification (pay stub, work certificate, uniform) Work order
If you enter the dam island, please be careful as the power is out and the traffic lights are not working. Drive carefully and treat each intersection as a four-way stop.
Additional law enforcement will be patrolling all mandatory evacuation areas during this event to ensure public safety and protect property. This includes barrier island communities in Pinellas County.
Lawmakers will reassess further openings tomorrow morning. We will provide updates if there are any changes to barrier island restrictions.
