USA Swimming voted to amend club dues for new clubs, increasing them from $700 for the first three years ($2,100 total) to $750 for the first year. This is the first change to club dues since 1990.
In addition to this reduction, the Sports Development Department will be releasing a quarterly report on the USA Swimming website showing the use of funds. The amendment passed with 83% voting in favor of the change.
Club dues were a hot topic this weekend after a vote was set on a proposed 221% increase in club dues for USA Swimming. The annual rate remains unchanged at $70, with the proposed increase set at $225. This rate is for established clubs rather than the higher rate for new clubs. This rate increase for established clubs has not yet been voted on.
Earlier today, most coaches told Swimswam they had no problem with the increase, but they needed to know where that money was being spent and that the organization’s club, LSC, coach and player development budgets had recently been cut. It was discussed that there were several concerns, including:
USA Swimming has committed to working on the program list below, but one coach told SwimSwam that the computer also malfunctioned during the presentation, so the presenters decided to use some of the funds to buy new computers for the staff. He commented that it was spent on mobile phones, but he said that’s not the case. Part of the list below.
