A first-generation college student, Jackson earned an associate’s degree in journalism from WVUP. She continued her education at WVU, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism, a master’s degree in organizational communication, and a doctorate in higher education administration.
She also holds a Certificate in Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Salem International University and a Certificate in Current Events Fundraising in Crisis Leadership from Indiana University Lilly School of Philanthropy.
Prior to his appointment as chancellor, Jackson held a variety of positions at WVUP, including chief operating officer, executive vice president for institutional development, president and CEO of the WVUP Foundation, and associate professor of communications. West Virginia Executive magazine named her one of its 2021 Young Gun Class members. Her colleagues also recognized her as the WVUP Bernard P. McDonough Faculty of the Year Award in 2015 and the WVUP Employee of the Year in 2014.
